Twilight Exposes Society Double Standard

Share

Here is a great example of how our society has a massively huge double standard. Take a look at the pic below and tell me if you see something off like I do…

hesaidYeah I sat through the new Twilight movie and watched all the young AND OLDER women gasp, giggle, and awe at a half naked guy for nearly two hours. I couldn’t help as I looked around at the drooling hormone engorged mob of women (including my date) that if this were a bunch of young and old men there would be a big difference.

Why is that we as a society are not only okay with older woman openly expressing feelings of wanting to defile our underage youth, but are supposed to actually think it’s cute?

I think if women want equal rights then they need to be held to the same standard men are. Men are expected to keep their emotions and their feelings of lust in check… especially when they involve under age girls! These old dusty women don’t even realize how pathetic they look oogling over a kid who is likely gay and certainly would be repulsed by them if he ever saw them in real life even if he wasn’t.

We need to protect our poor, helpless, defenseless young men from the hoard of horny sex fiend woman that would abuse them! Lets rally together and boo audiences around the world as they try to make us men feel like it’s okay for them to behave in a way they would comdemn us for. It’s time to rise up and seize the moment and turn this polished turd they call the Twilight saga into a catalyst for equality for the sexes! Who is with me?

I honestly have to say that I agree with you. I am a 21 year old female and I have seen the way most of my peers act towards this movie. It is ridiculous, especially if you are above 25. I understand that the target audience is teens and thats fine but there is no need for an obsession like this! It is not even a good movie! Think about it, its a teenager who has to choose between sleeping with a dead person or sleeping with a wolf! I feel like its wrong! I think the whole movie is outrageous and the obsession among women is even more ridiculous. I understand liking the movie but screaming everytime a half naked guy comes on the screen?! That is pushing it. Dear obsessed women/girls of the world. THEY CANT HEAR YOU!!! I think if men acted like this about a certain movie there would be more break-ups/divorces/fights. Women wouldnt be able to handle an obsession like that but men, they are supposed to take it in stride and suck it up because well they are men. I dont know, I think society is out of whack, and being obsessed with a movie like this shows it.
